The 5 Pillars of Performance

The Sarius Performance International approach is based upon a belief that in order for human beings to maximize their potential, and achieve performance excellence, then all aspects of their humanity need to be taken into account. We call this approach "Active Synergy Training and Coaching" and it involves working with "The 5 Pillars of Performance".

The "5 Pillars of Performance" work synergistically to generate sustainable performance excellence through a focus on a person's internal system (Physical, Mental and Emotional states) while at the same time, working with the external system of support relationships that the person has created around them as well as the frequency and nature of their practice.

Sarius Performance International coaches and trainers are uniquely qualified across a range of disciplines in order to ensure that changes are envisioned, embodied and sustainable.

Within a Sarius program or coaching engagement, you can expect to work on areas such as:

The 5 Pillars of Performance - Body Physical
So many people today see themselves as a 'brain on a stick'. However, the physical state plays a fundamental part in any human being's ability to produce excellence, not just those who are concerned with athletic performance. The body is a key transmitter, receiver and processor of information. Elements of focus include nutrition, energy, breathing, flexibility, strength, power, stability, posture, movement, sleep and restoration.

The 5 Pillars of Performance - Mind Mental
People spend an inordinate amount of time talking to themselves, and the vast majority of what they say is unprintable! The actions that we do or do not take are tightly linked to the beliefs that we have, and we are unaware of the vast majority of the beliefs that we have. This is a recipe for failure and mediocrity. Elements of focus include affirmations, visualisation, beliefs, effective target setting, creating effective self-talk, clarity of purpose and focus.

The 5 Pillars of Performance - Emotion Emotional
The English word emotion comes from the French word: "emouvoir" which means to "stir up". This word, in turn, comes from the Latin word "emovere" which means to "move out" from e- "out" + movere "to move". Excellence in performance is not created by the intellect. Human beings are "moved" to perform (or not) through their emotions. Elements of focus include creating effective emotional states, stress and tension management.

The 5 Pillars of Performance - Support Support
Human beings are not islands floating around in some kind of glorious isolation. Rather, we operate in a series of interconnected networks and relationships and these connections are fundamental enablers or barriers to us achieving what we say we want. Elements of focus include creating and maintaining networks of support.

The 5 Pillars of Performance - Practice Practice
A key element in any drive towards excellence is the nature of the practice in which people immerse themselves. An increasing amount of evidence now shows that the key distinction between those who create excellence and those who produce average results is their practice regime. Elements of focus include developing and maintaining effective practice regimes.
